The BIOFAIRNET project participated in the MEDLIFE International Conference, held in Naples, Italy, from 9 to 11 December 2025. MEDLIFE is an international forum that promotes interdisciplinary collaboration among researchers and stakeholders working in areas such as agricultural biology, biosustainability, circular bioeconomy, and food bioscience, with a focus on sustainable development in the Mediterranean region.
During the conference, BIOFAIRNET was represented by Professor Marina Albanese, project coordinator, who delivered a plenary presentation outlining the project’s objectives, consortium partnership, and key results achieved to date. Particular emphasis was placed on the identification of European Union Hotspot Regions, especially in greenhouse gas-intensive sectors such as agriculture and mining, as well as on the scientific and empirical methods underpinning their selection.

The presentation also highlighted opportunities for stakeholder engagement through BIOFAIRNET’s interactive digital platform, developed under the BIOFAIRNET initiative, which will enable stakeholders to actively contribute to the co-design of eco-sustainable strategies through information exchange and feedback.
BIOFAIRNET’s participation also supported dissemination and stakeholder recruitment activities. Conference participants were invited to register as project stakeholders, complete a short survey, and receive invitations to future BIOFAIRNET workshops, strengthening the project’s outreach within the Mediterranean research and stakeholder community.
