Biofairnet Project - Kenya National Research Festival 2025

BIOFAIRNET at the Kenya National Research Festival 2025

The BIOFAIRNET project participated in the Kenya National Research Festival (KNRF) 2025, held at Egerton University, Njoro, Kenya, from 18 to 22 August 2025. Organised by the National Research Fund (NRF) in collaboration with Egerton University and the Nakuru County Government, the festival took place under the theme “Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security: Empowering Communities through Research, Science, Technology, and Innovation.”

BIOFAIRNET was represented by partners from The Co-operative University of Kenya (CUK) at a dedicated project stand. Professor Nyamongo and Professor Waweru engaged with participants, presenting the project’s objectives, activities, and expected impacts, and illustrating how BIOFAIRNET supports sustainable and inclusive transitions in agriculture and food systems through cooperative and stakeholder-driven approaches.

During the event, the BIOFAIRNET stand was also visited by members of the Education Committee of the Parliament of Kenya, providing a valuable opportunity to present the project’s contribution to community empowerment, innovation, and research-based policy dialogue in the agricultural sector.

The festival brought together participants from Kenyan universities, research institutions, TVET institutions, government bodies, industry, and the wider public, providing a national platform to showcase research-led innovations addressing food security, climate resilience, and sustainable agricultural systems, while fostering dialogue between research, policy, and practice.
