Biofairnet - SEEDS-BioFairNet Annual Conference

Event Details

Workshop 1 – Early and Emerging Researchers

This workshop welcomes PhD candidates, postdoctoral fellows, and early-career academics working on sustainability, environmental economics, circular economy, and related fields. It offers a supportive environment for presenting ongoing research, receiving feedback from peers and senior scholars, and engaging in dialogue on emerging topics linked to the green transition, sustainable innovation, and environmental policy.

Topics

  • Renewable energy and climate impacts
  • Circular material flows and biobased substitution
  • Cooperation within production chains
  • Sharing models and product durability

Workshop 2 – Engineering Design and AI in Circular Economy

This workshop brings together researchers and practitioners working at the intersection of engineering design, artificial intelligence, and circular economy. It is intended for participants from engineering, computer science, sustainability studies, and related fields who are developing technological solutions for resource efficiency and circular production systems.

Topics

  • Engineering design for sustainability and circular economy
  • Generative design and topology optimization for resource efficiency
  • Advanced and green manufacturing
  • Digital twins and simulation-driven sustainability assessment
  • Bridging engineering data with environmental and economic assessment

BioFairNet’s participation in the ZeroPM Summer School in Lesvos created an opportunity to connect with other Horizon Europe initiatives working on pollution prevention, regional bioeconomy and safe resource use. Discussions with the ZeroPM consortium and the RIBES project highlighted shared priorities and concrete areas for collaboration.
In June 2026, BioFairNet contributed to the ZeroPM Summer School in Mytilene, Lesvos, hosted by the Department of Environment of the University of the Aegean. The three-day event brought together researchers, students and policy-oriented actors working on persistent and mobile substances, including PFAS. It created a focused setting to connect scientific knowledge, policy development and technical solutions addressing emerging pollution challenges.
On 25 June (11:00–11:45 CET), BioFairNet invites stakeholders to join a dynamic hybrid event exploring how bioeconomy and circular approaches can drive Europe’s sustainable transition.
