The IAERE Annual Conference is one of Europe’s leading academic events dedicated to environmental and resource economics, bringing together researchers, policymakers, industry representatives, and practitioners working at the intersection of sustainability, economics, and policy.

BIOFAIRNET will actively contribute to the conference by hosting a dedicated Special Session, providing participants with the opportunity to engage directly with the project, its vision, and its ongoing work to support a fair and inclusive transition to the bioeconomy and circular economy.

This special session will showcase how BIOFAIRNET connects economic analysis, stakeholder engagement, and digital tools to support greenhouse-gas-intensive sectors—such as agriculture and mining—in their transition towards sustainable, bio-based, and circular models.

Conference participants are warmly invited to attend the BIOFAIRNET session to learn more about:

  • How BIOFAIRNET builds a fair and accessible network for the bioeconomy and circular economy
  • The role of economic evidence and policy analysis in shaping sustainable transitions
  • The BIOFAIRNET digital dashboard and its co-creation approach with stakeholders

On 24 July 2026, the BioFairNet Executive Board met online to review progress across the project and coordinate upcoming activities. The meeting brought together representatives from the consortium to exchange updates on ongoing work, assess achievements and discuss the next milestones supporting BioFairNet’s mission to advance a fair and circular bioeconomy.
From 14 to 17 July 2026, BioFairNet partners gathered in Speinshart, Germany, for a dedicated modelling retreat focused on one of the project's key outcomes: the Green Information Factory. The event brought together technical experts, researchers and communication specialists to advance the development of a digital platform designed to support a fair and circular bioeconomy transition. 
The latest episode of ScienceMe features Stergios Vakalis, Assistant Professor at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and the University of the Aegean. During the episode, he discusses the role of energy and environmental technologies in addressing current sustainability challenges and highlights BioFairNet’s work on hydrothermal carbonisation.
