BioFairNet will hold its next Transferability Webinar, “Empowering a Fair Bioeconomy through Sustainability, Inclusion and Innovation”, online on 12 November 2026 from 10:00 to 12:00 CET. The webinar is organised by the University of Naples Federico II (UNINA), the project coordinator, and participation is free of charge with registration.
Rather than presenting project results, the session sets out to discuss what a fair bioeconomy means in practice and what it takes to build one.
Three Angles on a Fair Transition
The programme follows the three words of the title. The sustainability block looks at how a bioeconomy can reduce environmental pressure without shifting costs onto regions, workers or communities. The inclusion block asks who takes part in the transition and who benefits from it, from farmers and cooperatives to workers in mining and agricultural regions and the communities around them. The innovation block turns to the technologies, data and business models that can make a fair transition easier to replicate in other territories. A moderated discussion and audience questions will then connect the three themes.
Why Fairness Matters for Regions in Transition
BioFairNet works with regions moving away from greenhouse-gas-intensive agriculture and mining, where new bio-circular value chains have to be fair as well as green if they are to last. Replacing an economic base changes jobs, land use and who holds decisions, and these questions are as much social as technical. The webinar is open to researchers, regional and policy actors, industry, cooperatives and civil society organisations working on these issues.
Speakers and the detailed programme will be announced in the coming weeks on the BioFairNet website and social media channels.
