BIOFAIRNET Showcased Circular Innovation and Digital Collaboration at ECOMONDO 2025

The BIOFAIRNET project participated in the 2025 edition of ECOMONDO, held from 3 to 6 November at the Rimini Expo Centre in Italy. Recognised as Europe’s leading event for the green and circular economy, ECOMONDO once again gathered thousands of professionals, industrial leaders, policymakers, and researchers to shape the future of the ecological transition.

As an international hub for sustainable innovation, ECOMONDO plays a vital role in advancing the European Union’s green transition goals. The event brings together diverse stakeholders, from industry and research to policy and civil society, to exchange knowledge, present technologies, and define pathways for a fair, circular, and decarbonised future.

The 2025 edition focused on topics such as bioeconomy, waste valorisation, sustainable industry, and digital solutions for environmental transformation, reinforcing the need for collaborative innovation to achieve the EU Green Deal and 2030 Agenda objectives.

During ECOMONDO 2025, BIOFAIRNET presented its vision for transforming greenhouse gas-intensive sectors, such as agriculture and mining, into bio-circular and sustainable value chains. The project’s booth and networking activities highlighted how its digitally cooperative network enables stakeholder engagement, co-creation, testing, and validation of innovative technologies and practices across regional hotspots.

BIOFAIRNET’s participation allowed the consortium to connect with a broad range of actors from industry, academia, and public administration, strengthening partnerships and opening new opportunities for cross-sector collaboration. Visitors discovered how BIOFAIRNET’s approach (combining data-driven solutions, stakeholder engagement, and circular value creation) can reduce emissions, optimise resource use, and foster local economic resilience.

On 28 May 2026, as part of the eighth edition of the National Bioeconomy Day promoted by the SPRING Italian Circular Bioeconomy Cluster with Assobiotec-Federchimica, BioFairNet ran an online workshop titled “Assessing sustainability in emerging bio-based value chains.” Held from 10:00 to 12:00 CET, the session was delivered by project partners UNITELMA Sapienza and the University of Ferrara. It centred on Environmental and Social Life Cycle Assessment (LCA and S-LCA), showing how these methods quantify environmental and social impacts, expose trade-offs, and identify where bio-based systems can realistically be improved across value chains and regional contexts.
On 14–15 May 2026, the BioFairNet project took part in the “Renaissance in Economics” International Conference, held in Rome. The event focused on how economic thinking can respond to today’s global challenges, including climate transition and social inequalities.
