Biofairnet - Webinar Assessing Sustainability in Emerging Bio-based Value Chains

Biofairnet Contributes to Bioeconomy Day 2026 with a Transferability Webinar

The Biofairnet project will take part in Bioeconomy Day 2026 through a dedicated online workshop organised by project partner UNITELMA Sapienza. The webinar, “Assessing sustainability in emerging bio-based value chains,” will explore how Environmental and Social Life Cycle Assessment (LCA and S-LCA) methodologies can be applied to evaluate the sustainability of innovative bio-based systems.

The session will highlight how life cycle approaches support better decision-making by identifying environmental and social impacts, trade-offs, and opportunities for improvement across value chains and regional contexts. Drawing on practical insights from the Biofairnet project, participants will be introduced to real applications in:

  • Biomass valorisation
  • Circular use of resources
  • Development of responsible and sustainable supply chains

This interactive workshop aims to engage a broad audience, including researchers, industry stakeholders, policymakers, and all those interested in advancing sustainable bioeconomy solutions.

About Bioeconomy Day 2026

The eighth National Bioeconomy Day, promoted by the SPRING Cluster with Assobiotec-Federchimica, is dedicated to raising awareness among citizens, businesses, and institutions about the strategic value of the bioeconomy.

Through a wide range of initiatives, the event aims to foster a shared understanding of how the sustainable use of renewable biological resources can drive innovation, support circularity, and contribute to sustainable development. The initiative brings together a diverse audience, including academia, industry, public authorities, and the general public.

A greener economy is not automatically a fairer one. As regions move away from carbon-intensive agriculture and mining, the bio-based value chains that replace them raise a simple question: who carries the costs, and who shares the benefits?
BioFairNet will hold its next Transferability Webinar, "Empowering a Fair Bioeconomy through Sustainability, Inclusion and Innovation", online on 12 November 2026 from 10:00 to 12:00 CET.
